UCSA Service Year for Christ is a Christian gap year program where we an "outward-inward" focus.

People are naturally inclined to focus on themselves and always want to know, "what am I getting out of it?". We like our students to focus outward, whilst we are focussing inward.

Like our name states, it is a SERVICE year for Christ. We want students to come and be selfless, come and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our schools and communities. We don't want the student to ask "what about me?" we want them to ask "what about them?"

While we get them to focus on God and people, we focus on them. We build on their strengths and we chisel at their weaknesses. We help them find identity and develop their leadership. We help them transform themselves, whilst they help others to be transformed as well, so that we can have total transformation in our schools, communities and country.

Practically the teams have one main thing they do and that is showing people Jesus.  Wherever they go, whatever they do, they just portray the lifestyle of Jesus. They just love on people and help them in their journeys. They serve the schools and communities in ANY way possible. If the school asks them to just watch the kids while the teachers have a meeting, they do that. If asked to pick up papers they will do that as well. This is our culture, to do anything with the attitude of Jesus, as He first set the example - "He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross" - that is servanthood! And by serving we show more of God's character than when we preach.

Dances, drama's, puppet shows, skits, class lessons, hall periods, Life-orientantion Periods, camps, youth evenings, church sleepovers, outreaches, these are all part of our ministry and tools we use. But it is only tools, we do not see ourselves as a show or an event, but rather as a transformation-movement, bringing revival.

Transformation in the Service Year context is: "To take someone from the worldly path they are on and get them back on the path God destined for them to be on"

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart  - Jer1:5
